On the 21st September 2023, Moore Unidrill was pleased to exhibit at the NLSD show held in central-west France at the Xavier Bernard Agricultural College Grounds. This event is a working demonstration event, designed to showcase direct drills operating in front of approximately 1500 visitors. Many of the visitors consisted of students from the agricultural college, but there was also strong representation from farmers in the surrounding area, with many travelling two hours distance or more.
Unfortunately, we were powerless to the 25mm of rain that fell in the morning of the event, but this did coincide with several noteworthy seminars and conferences that were thankfully held indoors! The demonstration plots were left rather wet by the deluge, but thankfully by midday the sun was shining and the ground had started to dry out.
The Moore Unidrill was then presented with the ultimate test; many farmers gathered with keen anticipation to see if the morning’s rainfall would prevent the Moore Unidrill from performing well in the conditions, and they certainly weren’t disappointed! Drilling into an established Lucerne cover crop, the Moore Unidrill performed well at a variety of depths, with no blockages or soil sticking issues. One particular customer was on the hunt for a direct drill for his dairy farm, but also required the ability to drill cereal crops too; he agreed that the Moore Unidrill was the best option available, showing the versatility of the Moore system.
Many visitors to the stand also recalled Moore Unidrill’s from the 80’s and 90’s eras and were pleased to see the modern version in the flesh, still proving it’s worth forty years later.
It was also very interesting to glean feedback from professionals in the field, many whom have been conducting extensive research. Amongst their findings was the clear benefit of sowing cover crops post-harvest, which was found to prevent soil erosion and thoroughly clean soils, as well as providing a substantial base for a direct drilling regime.
In conclusion, it was very exciting to be able to showcase the Moore Unidrill in action, in front of so many new prospects. Moore Unidrill have a busy schedule of events throughout Europe in the following weeks and months, including a spot at the Sommet De L’Elevage show in Clermont Ferrand.
